23. JAMES FRANKLIN³ JOHNSTON (GEORGE GREGORY ("G.G." OR "GREG")², LEWIS¹) (#236) was born in Purdy, McNairy County, Tennessee on October 18, 1831. JAMES died July 30, 1906 in Arkansas, at 74 years of age. He was buried in Randolph County, Arkansas in Harper Cemetery.

He married MARTHA ELIZABETH MCDANIEL in Randolph County, Arkansas, July 17, 1853. (MARTHA ELIZABETH MCDANIEL is #237.) MARTHA was born January 26, 1832. MARTHA died September 4, 1914 in Randolph County, Arkansas, at 82 years of age. She was buried  in Randolph County, Arkansas, Harper Cemetery.
