45. WILLIAM JOSEPH "JOE"3 JOHNSTON (PERRY GREEN2, LEWIS1) (#818) was born in Newton County, Georgia in March 1839. Joe died, date and place unknown, after 1900, perhaps in Knox County, Texas

He married twice.  The first marriage, probably in Lafayette County, Mississippi, was to an unknown woman about 1866.  The woman apparently died in Lafayette County, Mississippi about 1867, while giving birth to their first son, Sidney Johnston.  Sidney was apparently taken in by his grandparents, Perry Green and Katharin Johnston.

He married SARAH Elizabeth Wooten (#1409.) in Lafayette County, Mississippi on January 13, 1870.   SARAH was born in Mississippi on January 1,1853.

Notes: 1. The 1880 census of Parker County, Texas shows that Perry Green Johnston had a 13 year old grandson, "S. Johnston," living with him.  This is undoubtedly the young Sidney Johnston, who accompanied his grandparents on their trip to Texas from Mississippi, prior to the arrival of his father and step-mother in 1881.  We have not been able to locate Sidney Johnston after the 1880 census.  He was not in Parker County during the 1900 census.

2. The 1900 census shows that Sarah E. (Wooten) Johnston has given birth to 7 children, all living, but shows only 5 that still live with them.

WILLIAM JOSEPH "JOE" JOHNSTON and SARAH E. (-----------) had at least the following family:

child 139 i. GEORGIA4 JOHNSTON (#1411) was born in Mississippi in 1876.

child 140 ii. LAURA B. JOHNSTON (#1412) was born in Mississippi in 1878.

child 141 iii. (-------) JOHNSTON (#1413) was born in Parker County, Texas (probably) in 1882.

child 142 iv. BOY (TWIN) JOHNSTON (#1414) was born in Parker County, Texas in 1895.

child 143 v. GIRL (TWIN) JOHNSTON (#1415) was born in Parker County, Texas in 1895.
